Youth Protests as motorist kills 3 sisters, 1 other in EdoChris Adelugba
Four women, three sisters and their friend, lost their lives in the early hours of Saturday, October 26 – The ladies were hit by a motorist while waiting for a bus at Uselu Community along the Benin-Lagos highway
The incident led to protest by youths of the community who are asking the Edo state government to cover the drains along the road Saturday, October 26 turns a black day in Edo state when a motorist reportedly hit three sisters who are on their way to New Benin Market, killing all of them.
Report has it that another lady who was reportedly accompanying the three sisters to the market also lost her life to the incident. The girls were allegedly hit by the car while waiting for a public bus.
The ugly incident has led to protest by youths at Uselu Community along the Benin-Lagos highway. The motorist and his wife, whose identities are yet to be known, were allegedly trapped inside the car which was said to have plunged into open drainage along the road. An eyewitness, Osas Ikpomwosa, who spoke to The Nation said residents of the community woke up to find four dead bodies along the road, adding that the police had rescued the driver and his wife. Ikpomwosa said the police operatives who came to disperse the protest shot four of the protesters and took them away. Evans Uselu Man who is reportedly one of the leaders of the protesting youths called on the Edo state government to cover the drains. Man said the protesters will clear the road which has been blocked since morning if the police release the four of the youths taken away.
The police spokesperson in Edo state, DSP Chidi Nwabuzor, confirmed the incident, adding that police operatives were on ground to restore peace and order.
